It’s finally out…all those hush-hush whispers and talking in barely-audible decibels – it’s true – Jennifer Aniston has listed her 10,000 square feet home in Beverly Hills at a jaw-dropping price of $42,000,000. I have to say, that is a lot of zeros there!
The woman we will forever remember as Rachel Greene from the popular sitcom Friends bought this property in 2006 following her divorce from Brad Pitt for $13.5 million. A year ago, Jennifer Aniston declared her fondness for this home in the cover story of Architectural Digest.“I can’t tell you specifically the feeling I had when I walked through the doors for the first time, except to say I knew I was home.” Why is she selling her house then? To simplify her life she told the People magazine. Sure, why not! Nothing simplifies your life like selling off your multi-million dollar home and flooding your personal vault at home with dollar notes.
Before listing the house a full flung renovation was ordered by Ms. Aniston, the price of which hasn’t been disclosed yet. However, one can guess it must have cost her several zeros as well. The house designed by Hal Leavitt has been reworked by Stephen Shadley – the same guy that has designed homes for celebrities like Diane Keaton, Robert Altman, and Carl and Mathew Modine.
Aniston’s private mansion sits on an acre of land. In addition to 5 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms there is also a staff suite. The master bedroom has two bathrooms that have been fitted with Japanese Ofuro tub, steam showers, and sunken tubs. Everything about this mansion is expansive – even the living room comes in doubles – one has a wet bar and the other features rosewood paneling. The mansion also has a few, no several dining areas, a gourmet kitchen, and when you need to host large events and parties, there is a separate catering kitchen as well. My, my, aren’t we fancy!
The property has enough water features to earn the distinction of a water park in its own right… a swimming pool, ponds, fountains, and spa throughout the property. This stone, glass and wood house is also equipped with the latest sort of technology for security that you would generally find in the house of the rich or the famous. Us lesser mortals make do with a peephole and doorbell!
What is Ms. Aniston to do once she sells her Beverly Hills property? Rumor has it that she might move to New York City where she used to live with her family until the late 1980s. I guess our next posting related to Ms. Aniston will talk of her adventures hunting for a house in the Big Apple. See ya then!
